Toki Mizuno
Contrabass
Born in Nagoya City, Aichi in 2003. Began playing the piano when he was five and the contrabass when he was twelve. Currently in his third year at the Tokyo University of the Arts after graduating from Tokai Senior High School.
Won the Overall Grand Prize at the 1st Izuminomori Contrabass Competition, 1st Place in the String Music Category at the 21st Tokyo Music Competition and 2nd Place in the Stringed Instruments Category, Age-U Group at the 24th Osaka International Music Competition. Also received the Fukushima Award while enrolled in the Tokyo University of the Arts. 2024 Aoyama Music Foundation Scholarship Student. Has played together with the Osaka Symphony Orchestra and the New Japan Philharmonic as a soloist to date. Has also made appearances in the Kitakyushu International Music Festival, on “Recital Passio” on the NHK-FM radio network, and more.
Conducted Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7 and other works at the regular concerts of the Tokai Gakuen Symphony Orchestra, the orchestra club of his high school, when he was a second-year student there. Performed cello concertos by Antonín Dvořák as a soloist at regular concerts held following his graduation. Also held recitals at Kioi Hall and Makomanai Rokkatei Hall as well in his hometown of Nagoya and other locations.
Has studied the contrabass under Toshinobu Sakakibara, Shu Yoshida, Hiroshi Ikematsu and Shigeru Ishikawa to date.
