Alessandro Beverari
Clarinet
Born in Verona, Italy in 1988. Began playing the clarinet at the age of nine. Graduated from the Conservatorio E. F. dall’Abaco in Verona with the highest marks in 2009. Debuted with a clarinet concerto by Mozart at with the Arena di Verona Orchestra, Verona’ leading orchestra, in 2008. Studied musical performance under Paolo Beltramini at the Conservatorio Giuseppe Nicolini (Italy) between 2011 and 2013. Studied under Romain Guyot at Haute Ecole de Musique (Geneva Music University) from 2012 up through 2016, earning his Master’s degree. Studied under Alessandro Carbonare at the Conservatorio Santa Cecilia (Rome, Italy) in 2016. Won awards at nearly all of Italy’s main clarinet competitions. Chamber music is among his specialties. Regularly conducts joint ensemble performances with pianist Miyuki Ishii and others. Also participated in the Sapporo Pacific Music Festival featuring conducting by Valery Gergiev, Jun Märkl, and Andris Poga. Has served as principal clarinetist of the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra since 2017. Resides in Tokyo. Awards in recent years include first place in the Marco Fiorindo International Clarinet Competition (Turin, Italy), the Tokyo Music Competition and the Audi Mozart Clarinet Competition (Rovereto, Italy) as well as first prize, the Audience Award and the Hamanaka Award in the 4th Jacques Lancelot International Clarinet Competition (Yokosuka, Japan). Placed third in the Wind Instrument Division (woodwind and brass) in the International Tchaikovsky Competition and first in the Leoš Janáček International Competition in 2019.
